Line test time!

Here's my unfinished line test for you all to witness and critique!

This was our first major key animation assignment for the year. This is keys and most of the breakdowns and a few inbetweens - but there is definitely going to need to be more in the future. : )

The parts that I know need work are the sneak/run - the arcs of my jumps are not accurate (they are kinda curving in on themselves) and in the stand up and grab the egg bit it's quite awkward - not to mention a billion other things!

AND... hehe I haven't put in the holder for the egg yet so it kinda disappears - like magic!

If anyone has any constructive feedback or advice it is welcome!

Not the last 'woohoo!' for the week

Hopefully.

Well - the great news is that we have been given a new assignment for the next couple of weeks which is an awesome assignment! It's doing face studies - looking at the structure of the skull and the muscles and then fleshing it out.

The other cool part to this assignment is that we have to develop a character and draw it doing a whole pile of facial expressions and then a dialogue model sheet - and the rules are that we have to use ourselves as reference. Bahaha.

I am not very strong at all at drawing caricatures - but what better place to start then trying to draw yourself, coz then you only offend yourself! : ) So that is going to be fun and if I'm feeling all brave and such I'll put up some of my WIP as I go. In the meantime, please allow me to share with you some random sketches that I drew today.

Here's where things get mildly interesting huh. Coz, like I think I have mentioned before - it seems that once I have taken a picture of my drawings the mistakes stand out even more clearly.
However, one of my wise tutors said to me that being able to see your mistakes is a step in the right direction, so I will live in the hope that if I can keep on seeing them - then maybe one day I will get to the point where I'll stop making them (as often)! : )

Ciao good people!

Getting back into stuff

It has been ages really since I have put anything up here much to my shame - just finished holidays which was fun. You would think that would mean I would have more time to get stuff done - but these holidays were crazy busy.

So all I have to offer is this incredibly random hairy Octopus monster thing. I don't even know what it is. So make it up - be creative! I just thought it was better to put up a thing - rather than nothing at all. : )

Hope you all have had (or are having) a very nice Monday.

Now this, is a VERY cool idea

Everyone should check out Sketchtravel if they have not already. Such a cool idea and imagine owning the original sketchbook!!!! : O

I admit, there was a moment where I thought - hmmmmmm I'm sure that Josh wouldn't mind if I used our savings and took out a loan to bid on this at the auction. After all - it would be an investment! But common sense got the better of me (stupid common sense). hehe

Anyway - check out that website and all the artists who are contributing to the sketchbook - it's really cool. : )

All's quiet on the western front...

Hmmm it's been a while since I have posted. And I don't really have any good excuses!
It's school holidays at the moment - so it's nice and quiet at school and I am getting a good amount of work churned out. Yes. I am a nerd.

There are a bunch of 3rd year students who are submitting some short films into the Hamburg Animation Awards this year - so I am privileged to be able to give them a hand with clean up and hopefully some ToomBoom later down the track. So that's fun. It's been a while since I've done clean up tho and I am a bit rusty - so today was a bit slower than I would like.

Here is a sketch from the archives. It's a bit of a weird one. It is my version of Fuchsia from the book Titus Groan. She is supposed to be attractive, but not, at the same time. I like her character - and what a name right! Very cool. Anywho - hopefully I will have more interesting things to talk about tomorrow - or maybe the day after. : )

P.S. Our school took us to see Rio last week and it was really cool! I loved the vibrancy of it and the character designs were really cool. And Jemaine Clement is a legend. He was brilliant as the voice of Nigel. NZ represent! Hehe : )
